Def Leppard Tour

Dream setlist: Def Leppard

Def Leppard just announced a 2024 tour with Journey, the Steve Miller Band, Heart, and Cheap Trick. That makes this an ideal time to talk about the Def Leppard dream setlist.

Longtime Stuck in the ’80s listener MaryBeth Doell in Madison, Ohio, sent us her dream setlist for Def Leppard.

“I decided to go with Def Leppard instead of my favorite, Motley Crue,” MaryBeth confessed. “I’ve seen Def Leppard several times live and they never disappoint.

Def Leppard was inducted in to the Rock Hall of Fame in 2019 – “way too late” in MaryBeth’s opinion – so there’s no shortage of songs to consider. Here is MaryBeth’s dream setlist for Def Leppard, along with her comments.

Let’s Get Rocked: “An awesome song to start off a show. The first line asks, ‘Do you wanna get rocked?’. It is off the ‘Adrenalize’ album, which is the first album the band had recorded after their guitarist Steve Clark died.”

Armageddon It: “This is probably the one song I like most off of the ‘Hysteria’ album.”

Rock of Ages: “From ‘Pyromania, it’s always on the setlist, you can’t help but love the song. How many of us have tried to figure what he says at the beginning of the song?”

Bringin’ on the Heartbreak: “Everyone remembers this off of ‘High ‘n’ Dry.’ It also happens to be the first video of theirs played on MTV.”

Fire It Up and/or Take What You Want: These two are off the 2022 album ‘Diamond Star Halos.’ If you haven’t heard the album, it’s definitely worth a listen.”

Foolin’: Who doesn’t love a good song about love and heartbreak? This song is not always on the set list, but it should be.

Hysteria: “This is my absolute favorite Def Leppard song and one that I feel doesn’t get enough love. I don’t believe I’ve ever heard it played live and it’s a song that should be.”

Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad: “It’s about someone you love not being in love with you. It hasn’t been included on their setlist in recent years.”

Paper Sun: “From the album ‘Euphoria,’ it is really just about living with the choices you’ve made.”

Two Steps Behind: “I have heard this live, and It’s one of the best love songs/power ballads in my opinion.

Rocket: “I can’t forget to add this as it’s one that most often makes the setlist.

Rock Rock Till You Drop: “Another that should be played live.”

Encores

Pour Some Sugar On Me: “Of course, this is ALWAYS played. While it’s not my favorite and I think its overplayed, the crowd always wants to hear it and won’t be happy if it’s not.”

Photograph: “When this was played during the Stadium Tour, a montage of photos was shown on the big video screen. There were older pictures from the early days up until the present. It was a great treat for the crowd.”
