After we released our “Road Trip Playlist” show a few episodes ago, I started working on a mix tape of my own for you all. “Mix Tape?” Yes, that’s what I said and that’s what I’m calling it.
I ended up with the following playlist, carefully constructed to fit into two 45-minute sides.
The only personal “mixtape rule” I broke for this one is “no extended mixes.” When you throw a bunch of different stuff together on a mix, the fastest way to get people to turn it off is to make them listen to a 12” club mix of some song they detest. I like to keep it snappy on a mix – you think you hate it now, wait until you hear the next song! I did include one extended mix on side A, I couldn’t help myself. In all fairness it’s not even the longest song included. (Will you be surprised when you see the artist? If you know anything about me, you will not.)
Side AM is for your daytime turn-it-up-and-sing-along keep-the-beat-and-keep-it-strong road tripping. Side PM is a little more chill, for nighttime cruising with your buds. Unfortunately there does not seem to be a way to turn off shuffle play on Spotify playlists – but I want you to know that if you shuffle this baby, I won’t be mad… I’ll just be disappointed.
